The LPU Online MBA is a great option if you’re looking for a UGC entitled MBA from a NAAC A++ University with 12 specialisations to choose from, and live lectures on weekends. However, it’s not a great option if you’re looking for guaranteed placements, the cheapest choice or campus network. The actual price is ₹50,000 per semester. With the current 20% Student Grant from LPU, this price drops to ₹40,400.

Does LPU offer an Online MBA?
Yes! LPU Online provides online mode courses from November 2021. The LPU Online MBA course is a 2 year 4 semester course, with 12 specialisation options (either single or double). It includes live weekend lectures and pre-recorded video lectures. This is separate to the Distance Education MBA offered by LPU, and the Full Time MBA offered on campus.

The first thing to check when considering an online degree is whether it is recognised. Below are the details.

UGC Entitlement is checked per session. Before paying any fees, please check the latest UGC-DEB list to ensure that LPU have “Master of Business Administration” listed under them for the session you are joining.
Government Jobs & Higher Studies: LPU state that online degrees are treated as equal to regular degrees for Government jobs, Private jobs and higher studies (PhD etc). As long as you have a degree from a UGC recognised University. However, whether you are eligible for a certain role or PhD will depend on the requirements set by the recruiter/university. Please also check the notification from them.

Placements: What You Receive
The LPU Online MBA page mentions Placements & Other Career Support. LPU state:
- Professional Enhancement Program: Training in Aptitude, Reasoning etc. From the start of the course until placements.
- Placement Drives: Available in the announcements section of your LMS.
- Contact the placement cell on 01824-520500. Or via the Relationship Management System (RMS) in your LMS dashboard.
- Alumni Support, Masterclasses & Guest Lectures from Industry Experts.
However, LPU do not publish any placement statistics for the online MBA. They do mention that salaries are industry averages. LPU also have a disclaimer stating “These do not guarantee specific job placement & salary.” We therefore will not include any.
Our View
- If you are working, then this course will be most beneficial for you to gain a promotion, move into management or change career within your field. Placement drives are a bonus.
- If you are a fresher, then LPU state that freshers can benefit from this course. There are no work experience requirements. However, there is no campus placements meaning you will have to put in a lot of effort to find a role. Plan to do some internships or projects.

This fee includes a ₹2,000 exam fee per semester. There is an additional one off ₹1,000 registration fee. The Student Grant has the note “T&C Apply”. Grants can vary so please check lpuonline.com on the day of payment.
The actual fee is slightly more than NMIMS (₹1,96,000 – One Off Fee). And Manipal University Jaipur (₹1,84,000). However, when using the Student Grant the fee per semester will be reduced. Please check with LPU how this will affect your later semesters. The value will depend on how much you’ll be using. Effort
LPU recommend 8-10 hours per week. You must attend live or recorded lectures, participate in discussion forums and quizzes to gain marks in your Continuous Assessment (30%). End Term Exams (70%) are online proctored. Once you move on from a question you cannot go back.

- 12 specialisations (Double option). Includes some unique specialisations such as Hospital & Healthcare, Logistics & SCM.
- Live weekend lectures. Can fit around a busy week.
- No entrance exams. Can do if you have a CA/CS/CMA.
- Online proctored exams. Can be done from home on a Laptop or Phone.
Cons
- Lowest fee per semester depends on Student Grant which can vary.
- No placement stats published.
- Only online. No campus peer group.
- Must attend to gain marks. Must dedicate time each week.
Who Should Avoid
- If you are looking for guaranteed placements or a large salary increase through campus recruitment then a full time MBA would be the best choice. Usually an online MBA won’t be.
- If you are looking for the cheapest fee then LPU’s own Distance MBA (Below) & IGNOU will be much cheaper.
- If you want to attend classes each week then consider a weekend course on campus.
- If you want to be part of an executive group of high level managers then consider an Executive MBA. These usually have work experience requirements.

Is LPU the Cheapest Online MBA?
No. IGNOU offer an MBA for a much cheaper price (₹66,000 total). LPU’s own Distance MBA is also much cheaper (₹66,000 for 4 Semesters). LPU Online is a mid priced option. It is similar to NMIMS. At actual fees it is similar to Manipal University Jaipur. However, with the Student Grant it is cheaper per semester.

- It is worth it if you’re working and want a recognised online MBA with live weekend lectures. There are 12 specialisations to choose from.
- Before paying any fees check that your session is listed on the UGC-DEB list.
- It is a mid priced option. At actual fees it will cost ₹2,00,000 for 4 semesters. If you are eligible for the grant then this will save you money.
- It is not worth it for placements. LPU offer training & placement drives but no guaranteed roles.
- If price is your main concern then consider LPU Distance MBA or IGNOU.
